What should water temperature be during no sunlight periods, using a solar/electric water heater? - solar thermostat
We have a solar hot water, but during peak hours, the electric water heater comes into play (two hours at night and 1.5 hours in the morning) the water is 140 degrees. Is this normal? I know that the thermostat into the hot water only, but should not be released so hot for solar energy? The water is hot!

I think it should be rejected. We recommend a maximum of 125 in order to avoid burns.
I have worked in some solar systems, but use "heat normal" water heater and save to supplement water heating. There were only sounded differently.
In general, smaller and have been established in all the time. Lower then try that no water through solar heat.
But it is almost impossible to say for us to sell as is configured, the system of logic. We know nothing about how it sounds, that official controls carried out to function as normal.
I do not know if you have two tanks or a tank and one for both storage and heating.
The main reason people turn on the heater when the water is warmer than eat less. Sun could get 140, three showers in the early morning hours, but at 125 degrees to only two in no time between the water heater.
I say try it. I can no reason to keep low the temperature would have indicated a problem, as apart from the property.
